Raw Materials

At Tischler und Sohn, we use Sipo Mahogany as a standard in the fabrication of our custom windows and doors. Sipo mahogany is one of the most durable woods, next to teak, for outdoor use.

Preparation

From the selection, the trunks are sawn and the boards dried in a slow process which results in a consistent grain structure and reduces the risk of warping.

From there the individual planks are hand selected and kiln-dried according to the specific project for which it is intended -a crucial step to achieve the appropriate moisture content in the wood.

Quality Control

When the wood boards have been properly prepped and the finest ones selected, the boards are then manufactured through a proprietary process to form our Tischler und Sohn wood laminate.

Sash & Specialty Construction

Our sashes are laminated out of three distinct slats, with the interior and exterior surface slats having vertical grain, exclusively.

This sorting and custom laminating process includes durable glue joints between the lamellas to ensure the stability of the wood section. It also provides moisture barriers for the surface slats which buffers the full cross section from the natural volume fluctuations of raw wood.

These core elements produce an extremely high-quality product for functional and consistent performance.

Comparison between common wood laminates and Tischler Premium Wood Laminates. Tischler ensures straight grains of each layer, creating a durable, straight profile.

During the manufacturing process, Tischler und Sohn rounds all exterior edges to a 3-mm radius. This ensures an 80% coverage of the paint or stain on the edges of the product. This attention to detail protects against premature failure of the finish.

All wood windows and doors are then fully finished with marine-grade paint or stain to match the client’s design specifications.
